WHAT YOU'LL DO IN YOUR ROLE.
The Senior Manager, Product Management is responsible for executing the vision, design, product roadmap of the device financing product portfolio in an Agile driven environment. You will lead a team of Sr Product Managers, Sr Product Manager-Technical, and Product Managers and report directly to the Direct Device Financing, Upgrades, and Trade Products.
Senior Manager is also responsible for attracting, hiring, retaining a high performing team to support products and platforms. This role is also directly accountable for developing strong and productive relationships outside your direct team with Customer representative teams, partner organizations, dependent technology teams, and supporting vendors.
Responsibilities
Strategy, Vision, Analysis
Works in collaboration with Director to develop strategy, plan, goals (outcomes) for the product suite. The collaboration will extend to customer teams and groups, as well as close working teams within Product & Technology (our group).
The product suite will be a mix of device financing, subsidy, upgrade, and trade-in products
Provide review and guidance to the Product Management team on vision, strategy, a roadmap for the product suite.
Overall lead for governance across key stakeholder teams
Offers organizational design thinking/strategy to best structure the team and leverage resources. This includes periodic review of current and anticipated staffing capacity.
Works collaboratively with peers in Software Engineering, Architecture, etc. translating enterprise concept requests into product requirements.
Business & Technical Execution
Regularly provides review and guidance to the Product Management team on execution related responsibilities. Includes reviewing customer experience identifying design gaps, evaluating key metrics to identify unexpected variance and determine cause
Foster strong working relationships with high dependency delivery teams, operational teams, and teams driving product growth.
Support team response, or field and respond to customer or Leadership escalations, as appropriate.
Support creation and execution of key vendor contracts ensuring delivery of excellent customer experience for Trade-In product.
Assist direct reports with ongoing prioritization and resource allocation to ensure scope and outcomes are delivered.
Leadership, Coaching, and Relationships
Create clear and measurable goals for team which aligns to company, department, functional area objectives. Routinely meet with direct reports to identify challenges and encourage completion.
Support no more than 10 persons indirect reporting relationship; direct reports are Product Managers who may lead products in the trade-in, device financing, or device upgrade.
Conduct regular 1:1's with direct reports to ensure alignment on priorities and support for removing potential barriers to productivity.
Regularly observe and create opportunities to observe direct reports and note positive, as well as constructive feedback. Share and review feedback with your direct reports in a timely manner.
Hire, manage, and develop a team of high performing managers and individual contributors.
Other Responsibilities
May be required to serve or execute the role of Product Manager for a specific product or group of products.
Approve time-off requests, expenses in a timely manner for direct reports.
Ensures direct reports complete required training and certifications in a timely manner.
Qualifications
6 - 8 years of relevant Product Management experience in the wireless industry
3 - 5 years of experience managing teams of 5 or more resources indirect reporting relationship
5+ years of relevant Product Management experience in an agile software product development environment.
Experience with successive elaboration and ability to develop Initiatives, Features and User Stories that the DevOps teams can ingest.
Experience in delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives.
Proven ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with Leadership, while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence.
Job Requirements:
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to identify/analyze/synthesize product data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present product information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences including executives and technical leaders.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or equivalent experience.
Additional General or Physical Requirements:
Must be able to communicate with others effectively through written communication methods.
Must be able to communicate (talking, hearing, etc.) with others effectively through oral communication methods
This position requires working with a computer (keyboard/mouse), telephone, and/or calculator; or, other repetitive use of hands.
Travel: May require up to 10% of domestic overnight travel to interact with vendors or satellite T-Mobile offices.
