Job Description
* This Executive Director role will lead a global team of technologists delivering strategic program initiatives as part of a multi-year transformation plan for Global Real Estate. This role will be responsible for designing and delivering next-generation application portfolio, infrastructure and data and reporting management.
* Key Objectives:
+ Establish GRE as a global industry leader by using technology to drive innovation, increase flexibility, and excel in a competitive environment
+ Leverage technology to drive efficiencies, maximize employee productivity and create a positive working environment for collaboration
+ Improve data consistency and quality to enable better decision making, and increase transparency and accountability
+ Enabling cost reduction to Firm (all lines of business) by optimizing existing space management / utilization, ongoing property management functions and enhanced real estate portfolio management
+ Enhancing direct employee experience in workspace selection and usage
Responsibilities of the role include:
* Lead a global team by generating a vision, establishing direction, motivating members, creating an atmosphere of trust, leveraging diverse views
* Evolve product vision and technology roadmaps by working closely with business, transformation leaders & technology leaders
* Technical responsibility for application architecture and design. Evolve product architecture and how the platform interacts
* Provide strong technical leadership for engineering and product teams
* Active participation in an Agile development process, including working closely with the business and product teams
* Timely project communications - monthly updates, project updates, RCA updates, agile experiments, team metrics etc
* Project management experience including managing small teams, influencing decision-making outside of immediate span of control, and accomplishing key objectives and results
* Manage a team of Software Engineers equipped to deliver end-to-end features
* Managing cross-team and vendor dependencies throughout the software lifecycle
* Participate in Architecture & Engineering forums, perform design reviews
* Participate in dev modernization and adoption of emerging/modern technologies across the application suite
* Continuous improvement of our DevOps, tooling and processes to enable us to deliver more value
* Align with the security standards and guidelines to ensure systems are secure and protected against threats
* Driving normalization/standardization of technology disciplines, collaborating with firm wide CI/CD engineering service owners and Practice Enablement.
Qualifications:
* This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
* BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
* Experienced senior IT professional with a proven Financial Services and/or Real Estate Technology track record, with more than 15 years' experience in combinations of successful application development and technology operations management
* Experience with Big Data and emerging technologies; Portfolio management, Conflict Resolution; Negotiation; Budget / Financial / Resource Management
* Demonstrated ability and success in interacting and influencing senior leadership on areas and strategies concerning the selection and deployment of technologies
* Mastery of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
* Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
* Experience with Java eco-system and associated tooling (Core & EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud), UI/UX (React JS, Angular or equivalent), Web Technologies (JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, JSON, REST, SOAP)
* SCM / DevOps / CI/CD tools & process (GIT/Bitbucket, Maven, Ant, Jenkins, Sonar), Testing tools & frameworks (Jasmin/Karma, JUnit, Selenium, Cucumber, Mockito), Agile Methodology and Tools (JIRA)
* Experience with Micro Services & Event Architecture
* Experience with Integration patterns and messaging technologies (JMS, Mule, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
* Experience with Cloud Platforms, Container/Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry)
* Strong Communication Skills demonstrating the ability to present and explain ideas and concepts.
* Experience building and managing global Software Engineering teams.
* Experience in engineering solutions for metrics gathering/publishing and event collection/correlation across distributed architectures, automation, monitoring, intelligent alerting, random fault injection (Chaos Engineering), and self-healing
* Experience providing leadership for large data volume applications.
* Expertise in working in in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
* Keen understanding of financial control and budget management
* Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information to facilitate efficient decision making; provides oversight and guidance to team projects of highest priority and importance
* Able to distill widely variant feedback into root cause issues and provide actionable feedback to other senior stakeholders. Excellent technical and business presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills
* Track record of driving strategy, organizational and operating model change
* Strong facilitation, process and influencing skills
