Duties: Participate in development lifecycles including data analysis, validation, design, development, implementation, and support of data needs from various source systems to one or more target systems. Gather, review, and flush out business requirements. Produce technical documentation such as data architecture, data modeling, data dictionary, source to target mapping with transformation rules, ETL data flow design, and test cases. Analyze and document data from all source and target systems to understand the total scope of data availability. Participate in the Agile development process for on-going projects or ad-hoc requests. Develop and optimize SQL queries, data aggregations, and ELT to improve data delivery. Collaborate with operations, platform, and DBA teams to test and deploy implementations into production and provide production support as needed. Collaborate with other data engineers to provide development coverage, support, and knowledge sharing. Escalate issues and concerns as needed.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience as a Database Developer, Data Engineer/Analyst, Database Administrator, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires four (4) years of experience with each of the following skills: ETL or ELT; Data architecture; Data modeling; Database design; Data warehousing; Data management; SQL development; Data mining; Data analysis; Unix Shell Scripting; Perl; Python; RDBMS such as Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, or PostgressSQL; and working with ETL tools such as Informatica, Pentaho, or Talend.
